Routine

  If you ask my mum, boyfriend, or anyone close to me, they will tell you that i am strict on routine. I know Nyla, and i know what will happen if routine is broken too much.  I am a member of a few first time mum groups on facebook, and i see how early on we get pressured into having a routine and finding one. For us, routine didn't happen unitl 4 months old.  Why is routine important? For me, i found that once we had a routine established, life just got easier. It was hard sometimes balancing a new baby, new life, and figuring out what she needed. As soon as we got a routine, i feel like i understood her needs better, got more rest, and had a happier baby. When did routine begin? Around 4 months old, after her stay in hospital, and when home life changed so much. I feel like at this time we were adjusting to it just being the two of us, and were becoming closer than ever because we needed each other.  What did the routine look like? Potty Training

  When i started this blog, i had all my posts planned out in advance, what i was going to write about. I had just made the decision to start potty training Nyla, and wanted to document our journey.  However, i am left amazed, as i feel like i actually am not having to potty train her.  Her potty arrived 3 weeks ago, and within an hour of having it, i sat her on it and she used it right away. Not a single fuss, no trying to get off it, she just sat there and went. That day she used the potty twice.  This is how her first few weeks of potty training have gone.  Why did i decide now? I had read online that people start as early as 18 months, and that it can take a while for them to get it. Nyla, at 14 months, had started to show signs of being ready. She would wake up from 2 hour nap dry, go and stand facing the wall to have a poo, and wait until she got home to poo in general.
